March & April 2013 Empties

Here are all the products I used up/decided to throw away for the months of March and April. Every item was purchased by me unless specified.

Skincare

  •  Jumbo sized cotton balls: Pretty self-explanatory. I'll pick some up again at Wal-Mart when I run out of my other bags.
  • Epielle Green Tea Cleansing Tissues: I picked these up every so often at Big Lots because you get 60 wipes for $2.00. They are very gentle on the skin and perfect for wiping swatches off your hand, cleaning up makeup mistakes around the eye area, or removing lipstick. They won't take all your face makeup off, but that's ok with me since they are so cheap. I'll pick these up again at Big Lots soon.
  • Lumene Gentle Cleansing Wipes: I received these from Lumene for writing a review about their BB Cream on CVS's website. Munch (my dog) decided to chew up the bag but thankfully the wipes were unharmed. I like these a lot but not enough to buy them full price.
  • Clean&Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets: The package says these won't smudge makeup, but they do a little bit. However, I love the plastic like texture of these and how well they soak up oil for midday blots. I will repurchase.
  • Softsoap Moisturizing Body Wash in Ultra Rich Shea Butter Creme: Steven and I love this scent and formula. We will definitely repurchase.
  • 2 mini Softsoap Moisturizing Body Wash in Juicy Pomegranate & Mango Infusions: Another scent we really enjoy. Softsoap is our go-to body wash.
  • Bath and Body Works Supercharged Body Scrub in White Citrus: I loved this body scrub for two reasons. 1. I got it for free with a coupon. 2. It was pretty abrasive. I love scrubs where I can actually feel the granules. This one was abrasive at first then foamed up when mixed with water. If I can ever get it free or for a few bucks, I'll repurchase.
  • Clean&Clear Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser: This is my holy grail makeup remover. Unfortunately, it's discontinued in the United States, but I have heard they sell it in Canada. Not that that helps me very much. This foaming cleanser takes off all my makeup/mascara/sunscreen/whatever quickly and gently. I am currently using my last bottle:(.
  • Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Lotion: This was a hotel toiletry from a trip. I used it as a hand cream at work. I liked the light smell, but it was nothing special.
  • Clarisonic Acne brush head: My go-to brush head for my Clarisonic Mia. I will continue to repurchase.
  • The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter: This was my first time ever using a body butter from The Body Shop. I LOVED the smell and texture of this stuff. I have two other minis to use before I repurchase this one again.
Samples
  • Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter: This body butter was much thicker than The Body Shop's I used. The scent it to die for! Much heavier and not as fruity as the strawberry one. I'm horrible with describing scent! I would love to receive this as a present or maybe I'll splurge on it in the future.
  • Amazing Cosmetics Anti-Aging Face Primer: This was ok. It has that silicone feeling that helps smooth over pores. I didn't see much difference in making my makeup stay longer.
  • Miracle Skin Transformer: This was a tiny tiny sample. I don't even remember if I liked it or not.
  • Ole Henriksen Truth Creme: I have used this before and always enjoyed it. This vitamin-C cream is very hydrating and worked well as a night cream.
Makeup

  • Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer in Ivory: I really enjoyed the constincy and brightness of this concealer pen. However, ivory was much too light for me even in the winter. I am currently using the nude color and really like it
  • Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in Peach Ivory:  First off, I know if I had cut the container open I would have gotten quite a few more applications, but I have had this same bottle for going on 2+ years so it was time to go. I have a love/hate relationship with this stuff. On some days it gives me flawless looking skin. On other days it goes a bit cakey and doesn't cover as well. I have a darker color I will be using this summer. Once I use that up I will probably strictly use MUFE Mat Velvet+ for my higher-end foundation.
  • theBalm Time Balm Face Primer: This stuff lasted forever. It's a silicone primer that does a good job of making makeup go on smoothly. I found mine at TJ Maxx but under $10, but I wouldn't repurchase for the current $30 price tag.
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: I was sad to see this go:(. I loved the berry tint it gave me lips and how moisturizing it was. I have way too many other shades to use up first, but I would repurchase this color in the future.
  • Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine: I love how much it moisturized my lips, but I didn't love the way it made my dry lips look (like I had smeared white paste on my lips) or the fact I had to stick my fingers in the pot to apply. I have tried the squeeze tube of this stuff and it just isn't the same. That being said, I probably won't repurchase.
  • Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara: I was so surprised I loved this stuff. I hate all the other Lash Blast mascaras, so I was expecting to hate this, too. However, it gave my lashes lots of definitions without clumping, but at the same time without looking too separated. The only downside was that I feel like it dried up before I had used it for two months. It's pretty inexpensive though so I will repurchase.
  • Relvon Lash Fantasy mascara in regular and waterproof: My go-to mascara!
Tossing

  • Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation in 2 shades: Thank goodness I bought both of these with sales and coupons because these run about $10-$14. The texture of each have gone from whipped and smooth to thick and clumpy. It was time for them to go. I will not be repurchasing.
  • Mark Full Color Lipstick in Coral Fixation: I received this about 4 years ago, so it was time to go. The color is absolutely gorgeous and the lipstick smells like mint. My favorite part was how small the container was and the magnetic snap of the cap to ensure that it would never fall off.

  1. Giving scented/chemical-filled lotions and perfumes to my roomie :) Also tossing a beautiful 100% natural tinted moisturizer I was sent for free, feels wasteful but I never wore foundation, even if I had stuff to cover up it makes me naturally oily skin look like a grease ball! Plus, really happy with my skin now that my diet is crazy clean.

    1. So do you use only natural products? I am slowly trying to reach my goal to do that!

  2. Oooh, question about the Clarisonic acne brush. How does it compare to the normal brush?

Re: Laura Mercier Silk Creme - I started off by loving it when my skin was super oily, but now I find that it clings to dry areas. It's a weird love/hate sort of product.

  3. I can't remember exactly what I didn't like about the normal brush head, but I absolutely love the acne brush head. I thought it would feel more abrasive but found on my skin it's pretty gentle! The woman at Ulta told me the acne one has more bristles and creates more foam from your face wash.

I was the same way about the silk creme foundation. Something it looked amazing then it would look so bad!
